CimotaTech Ltd / Handwriting Horizons
CimotaTech Ltd is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all educators and pupils. We believe that technology must serve as a systemic equalizer in education, which is why inclusion is hardcoded into the architecture of Handwriting Horizons. This accessibility statement applies to the CimotaTech corporate website, as well as the Handwriting Horizons pupil and teacher portals (handwriting.education and llawysgrifen.cymru).
1. Compliance Status
We are committed to conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines dictate how to make digital content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. As a technology provider to UK public sector bodies, including Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) and Welsh Local Authorities, we actively audit our platforms against the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
2. Platform-Specific Accessibility Features
Handwriting Horizons is uniquely designed to reduce cognitive load and physical friction for primary-aged pupils (EYFS to KS2), particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our core accessibility infrastructure includes:
- Left-Handed UI Mirroring: The platform offers a natively mirrored interface to ensure left-handed pupils are not forced into awkward biomechanical postures. This directly supports our core 90-90-90 ergonomic seating pedagogy.
- Low Cognitive Load Design: Pupil interfaces are deliberately free from distracting animations, gamified behavioral loops, or unnecessary visual clutter. We utilize high-contrast color palettes and clean, readable typography to support neurodivergent learners.
- Keyboard & Screen Reader Navigation: Our teacher-facing reporting dashboards and MAT-level compliance portals are fully navigable via standard keyboard controls and optimized for modern screen readers (including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver).
- Responsive Scaling: Content across all teacher and administrative dashboards can be zoomed up to 300% without text spilling off the screen or loss of critical functionality, supporting visually impaired educators.
3. Non-Accessible Content
While we strive for complete Level AA compliance across all active software, we acknowledge that certain legacy compliance documentation (such as static PDF downloads for older iterations of our Service Level Agreements) may not fully meet modern screen-reader standards. We are actively transitioning all required documentation into native, accessible HTML web pages.
4. Reporting Accessibility Problems
We are continually iterating on our infrastructure to improve digital access. If you encounter any barriers not listed on this page, or if you believe we are not meeting the required accessibility standards, please contact our engineering team directly:
- Email: accessibility@cimotatech.com
- Target Response Time: We acknowledge all accessibility reports within 24 hours and aim to provide a technical remediation roadmap within 5 business days.
5. Enforcement Procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 in Great Britain. If you are not satisfied with how we respond to an accessibility complaint, you have the right to contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for further guidance.
